SECTION 4: ASSEMBLY

Chip Deflector

For your safety and proper machine operation,
ensure that the chip deflector is secured before
use. The chip deflector directs wood chips away
from the cutterhead during operation and covers
the cutterhead and feed rollers for operator safe-
ty. To secure the chip deflector:
1. Align the chip deflector with the two bolts
mounted at the exit side of the planer.
2. Set chip deflector in place and use two wing
nuts and washers to secure in place. See
Figure 2.

Handle Assembly

Attach the handle assembly to the shaft protrud-
ing out of the top of the planer. Align the flat
inside the handle bore with the flat on the shaft.
Insert the M5-.8 x 20mm cap screw. Do not over
tighten.

Mounting to Bench

The planer can be directly mounted to a bench or
table top, or to a Shop Fox
increased stability during planing. Use the mount-
ing holes shown in Figure 4, using the appropri-
ate fasteners.
