2. While in FM MODE, RDS information about the type of music played or the
format for the FM station, along with the call letters for the station will be
displayed. (Figure 27)

3. If the SNR (Signal Noise Ratio) of the station is less than approximately 15,
the RDS data will not be displayed because the signal is too weak.
4. RDS data is not displayed in AM MODE.

RSSI and SNR Displayed Information:

1. While in both AM MODE and FM MODE, the RSSI (Received Signal Strength
Indicator) and SNR (Signal to Noise Ratio) are displayed on the LCD. (Figure
27 above)
2. These metrics give the user a good indication of the signal strength of the
station.

In-Circuit Programming of the Microprocessor:

The program for the PIC18F2550 which controls the Shortwave Daddy
can be changed by uploading a new program using the 6 pin In-Circuit
Programming Header which is located at the bottom of the main PCB, next
to the first push-button. This allows the user to experiment by uploading
