AUTOFOCUS WITH MAIN SUBJECT OFF CENTRE

As previously noted, in Single Servo autofocus, focus is locked
as long as shutter release button is kept lightly pressed. Use
this feature for off-centre subjects.
• If there is substantial difference of brightness between subject
and background, switch to Centre-Weighted or Spot
Metering and use AE-L button. See pages 74 to 75.
• In the following procedures, Spot-Area AF and Spot
Metering are used for demonstration photos .
• With a moving subject, focus cannot be locked.

Position reference circle for Spot AF on the subject and
lightly press shutter release button to start autofocus
operation.

Confirm in-focus indicator
appears in viewfinder.

Keeping shutter release button lightly pressed,
recompose, then fully depress shutter release button to
take pictures.
