(4) If using the modem port on the
PowerBook computer, ensure that modem
port is set for External Modem.
(5) Ensure that AppleTalk is turned off.
Problem:
Unable to print. Message box reads
"Identifying the printer."
Solution:
A Windows user is currently printing to the
printer. Wait for this print job to complete, then
try again.
Problem:
Memory errors.
Solution:
(1) If printing grey scales, try setting print
option to black and white.
(2) Insufficient memory allocated to Print
Monitor. Allocate additional memory (see
your Macintosh documentation).
(3) Insufficient hardware resources. Ensure
Macintosh has at least 1MB free memory
and 5MB free disk space available at print
time.

Problem:
Printing is exceptionally slow.
Solution:
(1) If printing in 600dpi class, try using
300dpi.
(2) Print data may be very complex. Try
printing a simpler document to see if
problem persists.
Problem:
Printed characters appear with rough
outlines.
Solution:
Use TrueType fonts or Adobe Type 1 fonts
with Adobe Type Manager.
Problem:
Encapsulated PostScript (EPS) graphics
print poorly.
Solution:
Printer requires PostScript facility to print EPS
files at high resolution, otherwise graphics
print at screen resolution (72dpi). Try
converting files to Pict or TIFF format.
Problem:
Some characters are missing or distorted.
Solution:
The font cache file on your Macintosh has
been corrupted. Delete the file, then restart the
Macintosh (see your Macintosh documentation).
