VENT DAMPERS- Any vent damper,whether it is operated
thermallyor otherwise mustberemovedif itsuseinhibits prop-
er draftingof the water heater.
Thermally Operated Vent Dampers:Gas-firedwater heaters
having thermal emciency in excess of 80%may produce a rela-
tivelylowflue gastemperature.Suchtemperatures maynot be
high enough to properly open thermally operated vent
damper_This wouldcausespillage of fluegases andmay cause
carbonmonoxide poisoning.
Vent dampersmustbear evidence of certification ascomplying
with the latestedition of American NationalStandardANSI
Z2h68 (ANSI Z21.66 & 67, respectively, coverelectricallyand
