REGULAR
MAINTENANCE
Regular,careful maintenancewill "allow you to
enjoy a long, more efficientservice life from
your cooler. Befores'fartinganymaintenance
operation, read thorunghly all operatingand
maintenance instructions and observe atl
cautions and warnings.
Changing Cooler Pads
Yourcooler pads should be changed at least
twicea year.., at the beginning of a season and
midwaythrough.

mineral content of
the water is high, deposits maybuild up in the
cooler pads, restricting air flovz
Replace padsas follows:
l. Removepad assembly from cabinet.
2. Removepad frame stiffenerfrom frame, using
caution as stiffener can spring back. Carefully
remove all pad from retainers. Removeand
discard pads (see Figure 17).
3. Using a mild detergent, wash dirt and scale from
pad frames. Wire brushing is not recommended.

Note: Pad must

6. Replace pad retainers and lock under edge of
frame. Sharp points must be buried in pad.
7. Pre-soak pads and reinstall pad flame.
8. Start pump and allow troughs to fill.., check
water level in troughsby slightlytiltingeach pad
frame out.
Adjusting Belt Tension
Each timeyou inspect your cooler, be sore to check
belt tensionon motor/blower assembly.Checkbelt

condition and replace it if frays or defects appear.
Checkalignment of blower pulley withmotor pulley
(see page 3 for detailed steps).
Lubrication
Blowershaft bearings need periodic lubrication. T he
oil cups on the blowershaft bearings should be filled
with a good grade SAE20Wor 30Woil when
necessary.Under normal use, oiling is required every
three months of operation. Do Not Over-Oil. The
pump and blower motors do not require lubrication.
Cleaning Water Pump
Disassemble a nd cleanwaterpumpas follows ( see
Figure18):
1. With power supplydisconnected,
unplug pump cord.

Caution:
Disconnect all
electrical power to the
cooler before attempting
to
install, open, or service
your cooler. If tbe cooler is
thermostatically
controlled,
the tbennostat
is not to be
used as a disconnect as it
may reset and start the unit
unexpectedly.
Note: Do Not Undercoat The
Water Reservoir
Yourcooler's water reservoir is finished
with a PolybondTuapphance-type finish.
It is so hard that asphalt-type cooler
undercoating will not stick to it.
Undercoat will break free and clog pump
and water disMbutor.
Do not use cooler cleaners, cooler
treatments, or other additives in this
evaporative cooler. The use of any of
these products will void your
warrantyand may impair the life of
your evaporative cooler.
Drainingand Touch-Up
Cleanthecoolercabinet(withpoweroffand
frames r emoved)asfollows:
1. Connecta drain hose to the drain fitting to the
bottom of the reservoir.
2. Removestandpipe from the drain fitting and
allowwater to drain (never drain water onto a
roof,make sure drain hose is long enough to
reach a gutter or over edge of house).
3. Clean reservoir.
The hardness, adhesion and smoothnessof the
internal and external finishon your cooler makes
it extremelyunlikelythat scratches or chipping
willoccur. In die event thatfinishdamage does
occur, it shouldbe promptlyrepaired by the
followingprocedures:
1. Sand the area around bare metal spots.
2. Prime and paint with a qualitypaint.
