CHARGING A BATTERY Getting Ready Charge the Rechargeable Battery NH-20. Batteries that can be charged h Rechargeable Battery NH-20 (included) Use the battery charger (BC-NH20) provided with the camera to charge Ni-MH batteries only. Attempting to charge batteries other than those specified for use with the charger (such as manganese, alkaline or lithium batteries) can cause the batteries to burst or leak.

LOADING THE BATTERY AND THE xD-Picture Card Load the Rechargeable Battery NH-20 correctly as Indicator indicated by the polarity icons. Loading AAA-size batteries Align the gold marking on the xD-Picture Card slot with the gold contact area on the xD-Picture Card and then push the card firmly all the way into the slot.

Using BASIC OPERATION GUIDE the Camera You’ve read the chapter on getting ready and the camera is now set up and ready to take pictures. “Using the Camera” describes the basic camera operations of “Taking Pictures”, then “Viewing Images” and “Erasing Images”. This section describes the camera’s functions.

TAKING PICTURES ( AUTO MODE ) STILL PHOTOGRAPHY MODE Pressing the Shutter button down halfway, the camera emits a short double-beep and focuses on Bebeep your subject. At that point, the AF frame on the LCD monitor becomes smaller and the camera sets the shutter speed and aperture (the viewfinder lamp (green) stops blinking and remains lit).
TAKING PICTURES ( AUTO MODE ) STILL PHOTOGRAPHY MODE USING AF/AE LOCK In a shot with this type of composition, the subjects A 33 33 (two people in this case) are not in the AF frame. If the picture is taken at this point, the subjects will not be in focus.
You can use this camera to view still images recorded on the FinePix F420 or still images (excluding some uncompressed images) recorded on a FUJIFILM digital camera that supports xD-Picture Cards. Clear playback or digital zooming may not be possible for still images shot on cameras other than the FinePix F420.

RECORDING MOVIES MOVIE MODE Press the Shutter button down fully to start recording. The brightness and color of the LCD monitor shown during movie recording may differ from those shown before recording begins. You do not need to hold down the Shutter button. Pressing the Shutter button down fully locks the focus, but the exposure varies automatically according to the scene being shot.

DPOF stands for Digital Print Order Format and refers to a format that is used for recording printing specifications for images shot using a digital camera on media such as an xD-Picture Card. The recorded specifications include information on which frames are to be printed.

Viewing Images 6.1.1 Using the AC power adapter ( sold separately ) Always use a FUJIFILM AC Power Adapter AC-3V/AC-3VW. Use the AC power adapter to avoid losing power at inconvenient times, such as when downloading photographed images to the computer.
