    Basic Operations The Shutter-release Button The camera features a two-stage shutter-release button. To set focus and exposure, press the shutter-release button halfway, stopping when you feel resistance. Focus and exposure lock while the shutter-release button is held in this position. To release the shutter and take a picture, press the shutter-release button the rest of the way down.

    Inserting Memory Cards Image, sound, and movie files are stored in the camera’s internal memory (approximately 16 MB) or on removable Secure Digital (SD) memory cards (available separately; A 149). If a memory card is inserted in the camera, data are automatically stored on the memory card and data recorded to the memory card can be played back, deleted or transferred.

Pictures taken when E is displayed may be slightly mottled.

    Taking Pictures with the Self-timer The camera is equipped with a ten-second and two-second timer for self-portraits. This feature is useful for reducing the effects of camera shake that occurs when pressing the shutter-release button. When using the self-timer, use of a tripod is recommended.
