About Direct Connect

Direct Connect allows you to use your BlackBerry smartphone like a walkie-talkie to talk to individuals or groups. And you
can even switch from a Direct Connect call to a phone call, while in the middle of a conversation.
Find your Direct Connect number
1.
On the home screen or in a folder, click the Options icon.
2.
Click Call Management > DC Settings.
Your Direct Connect number appears in the format <AreaID>*<NetworkID>*<MemberID>.

Send an Alert

You can send an Alert to notify a contact that you want to start a Direct Connect call. When users receive an Alert, a tone is
played on their BlackBerry smartphone.
1.
In the Contacts application, highlight a contact.
2.
Press the
key > DC Alert <Direct Connect contact name>.

Make a Direct Connect call

You can make a Direct Connect call using the PTT button, from the Contacts application, or from Call logs in the Phone
application. You can also add additional participants to a Direct Connect call. If you receive a phone call during a Direct
Connect call, you answer or ignore the phone call.
1.
In the Contacts application, highlight a contact and push the
smartphone.
