DAILY CLEANING

1. Push the lever up to the unlocked position
off the unit. Unplug it from the electrical outlet. Ensure appliance is cool.
2. The steam wand may still be hot. Do not touch it with your hands until it has cooled.
Remove the steam wand sleeve and wipe the steam wand with a damp cloth. Rinse the
steam wand sleeve in warm water. Unscrew the steam wand tip and clean the steam
wand valve with a needle or toothpick.
3. Discard the remaining water by removing the reservoir and turning it upside down over
the sink. It is recommended to empty the water reservoir between uses.
4. The water reservoir, filters, tamper, portafilter, drip tray and drip grill can be washed with
soapy water.
CAUTION: Do not immerse the appliance in water.
5. Wipe housing with a soft wet cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads, as
they will scratch the finish.
6. The portafilter may be stored in the unit.

REGULAR CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

Descaling your VillaWare
Mineral deposits that have built-up in the Espresso Maker will affect the operation of the
appliance. Your Espresso Maker must be descaled when you begin to notice an increase
in the time required to brew espresso, or when there is excessive steaming. You may also
notice build up of white deposits on the surface of the brew head.
The frequency of cleaning depends upon the hardness of the water used. The following
table gives the suggested cleaning intervals.
Type of Water
1. Soft Water (Filtered Water)
2. Hard Water (Tap Water)
TO DESCALE WATER RESERVOIR:
1. Make sure the power button is off and that the power cord is disconnected from the
electrical outlet.
2. Fill the reservoir with fresh, undiluted white household vinegar. If desired, a commercially
available product for descaling espresso machines may be used following the
manufacturer's instructions.
