To test the power level

You can test the power level of a
cooking zone by measuring how long it
takes to bring a specific amount of
water to the boil.
The pan (and lid) must be stainless
steel or enamel. The diameter of the
pan must match the cooking zone, and
be flat-bottomed or slightly concave.

^ Take a note of the diameter and
wattage of the cooking zone to be
tested (see "Guide to the appliance").
^ Fill the pan with the quantity of water
given in the table. The temperature of
the water should be approx. 20°C.
^ Place the pan with its lid on the
cooking zone.
^ Switch on the cooking zone at the
highest setting.
^ Note the time it takes for the water to
boil.
The power level for the cooking zone is
fine if the water boils within the time
given in the table.
The time can vary if:
- there are fluctuations in the main
electricity supply,
- very cold water is used,
- an unsuitable pan is used,
- the pan is not covered.
