NOTE:Wheninstallinga newsparkplug,tighten 1/2-turnafter the
spark plugseatsto compressthe washer.Whenreinstalling a used
spark plug,tighten 1/81to 1/41turn after the sparkplug seatsto
compressthe washer.General Recommendations
1. Alwaysobservesafetyruleswhenperformingany maintenance.
2. Thewarrantyon this snowthrowerdoesnot coveritemsthat have
been subjectedto operatorabuseor negligence. T o receivefull
valuefromthe warranty,operatormustmaintainthe snowthrower

3. Periodically checkall fastenersand hardwareto makesurethese
are tight.
Replacing the Shave Plate and
Skid Shoes
The shaveplateand skid shoeson the bottomof the snowthrowerare
subjectto wear.These shouldbe checkedperiodicallyand replaced
whennecessary
1. Toreplace, remove twocarriage boltsandnutssecuring eachskidshoe
totheaugerhousing.SeeFigure15.

Lubrication
Fora viewof the lubricationpointson the snowthrower,see Figure16.
1. Lubricatepivotpoints on the augercontroland drivecontrol with a
light engineoil once a season.
2. Lubricate theaugeridlerbracket w itha lightengineoiloncea season.

Engine
Listedbeloware general recommendations aboutmaintaining your
snow throwerengine.
1. Beforeoperatingsnowthrower,checkthe oil level.
2. Changeengine oil after first five hoursof operationand every 50
hoursthereafter.
3. Cleanspark plug and resetthe electrodegap to 0.030"at least
once a seasonor every 100hoursof operation;replaceevery200
hoursof operation.

Reassemble n ewskidshoes withhardware j ustremoved. Makesurethe
skidshoes areadjusted tobe level.
Toremove shave plate:Remove bothskid shoesand hardware
includingcarriageboltsand nutswhichattachshaveplatetothe
snowthrowerhousing.Forlocationof shaveplate,see Figure15.
Reassemble newshave plate,makingsureheadsof thecarriagebolts
areto theinsideof thehousing. R einstall s kidshoes.Tighten securely.
Servicing Auger
Theauger is securedto the spiralshaftwith fourshearpinsand cotter
pins. If you hit a foreignobject or ice jam, the snowthroweris designed
so that the pinsmay shear.Referto Figure15.
If the auger doesnot turn,check if the pinshavesheared.Replace,if
needed,with propershearpins. Referto the Parts List in this manual
for thecorrectpart number.
IMPORTANT:NEVERreplacetheauger shearpinswith standardpins
or fasteners.Anydamageto the auger gearboxor othercomponents,
as a resultof doing so, will NOTbe coveredby yoursnowthrower's
warranty.
