RECOIL STARTER ROPE INSPECTION

RECOIL STARTER ROPE
Inspect the recoil starter rope, and
replace it if it becomes frayed.
Always keep the tool kit's emer-
gency starter rope on the boat in
case the recoil starter rope fails.

ANODE REPLACEMENT

The anode is made of a sacrificial
material that helps to protect the
outboard motor from corrosion.
Replace the anode when it has been
reduced to about half its original
size, or if it is crumbling.
NOTICE
Painting or coating the anode will
defeat its purpose and will lead to
rust and corrosion damage to the
outboard motor. The anode must
be exposed to the water in order to
protect the outboard motor.
