GB) PREVENTING KICKBACK
GB) To prevent KICKBACK, never allow the chain in the Kickback Danger
Zone to touch anything!
®
A) The SAFE-T-TIP
Anti-Kickback Device (Nose Guard) covers the
danger zone (B) and, thereby, prevents kickback..
C) SAFE-T-TIP® (Nose Guard) also protects the chain.
Use the low kickback chain reccommended for your saw.

GB) Chain Brakes are designed to rapidly stop the chain from rotating. A
chain brake does not prevent kickback.
A) RUN POSITION.
B) BRAKE POSITION.
After cleaning, test your Chain Brake by pushing to BRAKE POSI-
TION while the chain is rotating rapidly. If the chain does not stop
immediately, have your chain brake repaired.
Even with daily cleaning of the mechanism, the dependability
of a chain brake to perform under field conditions cannot be
certified. Keep the SAFE-T-TIP
and use proper cutting techniques.

Position the chain tangs into the bar groove. The cutters should face
in the direction of rotation (A). Pull the chain into a loop (B) at back
of bar (C). Hook the loop over and onto the drive sprocket while
placing bar on bar stud (D) and adjusting pin. Put bar plate (E),
drivecase cover (F) and nuts (G) on bar stud (D). Hand tighten the
nut. Turn adjusting screw (H) clockwise until chain tangs enter the
bar groove.
