To ensuresafe operationof your mower,periodically
checkthe bladebolt for correcttorque,

1, Disconnectthe spark plugwire and groundit against
the engine,
2, Drainthe fueltank or placea pieceof plasticbeneath
the capto preventgasolineleakage,
3, Tip moweron its side(air cleanersideof engine up),
4, Removeblade,blade adapter,and relatedhardware
as instructedin BladeCareon Page 11,
5, Loosenself-tappingscrewthat securesdeck baffle to
the deck,See Figure8,
6, Workingfrom the rear of the mower,carefullyremove
beltfrom transmissionpulley,
7, Oncebelt is off transmissionpulley,pushdownon
deck baffleto access enginepulleyandslide belt off
this pulleyand out from underdeck,See Figure9,
8, Replacewith newbelt, workingit betweenthedeck
and baffle,firstaroundthe transmissionpulleyand
thenthe enginepulley,
NOTE: Makecertainthat beltis seatedcorrectlyand
that it is ridingsmoothlyon the enginepulleyand is not
pinchedbetweenthe lowerand upperpulleyhalves,

balancesevenly,

5, Lubricatethe enginecrankshaftand the inner
surfaceof the bladeadapterwith lightoil, Slidethe
bladeadapterontotheengine crankshaft,Placethe
bladeon the adaptersuchthat theside of the blade
marked"Bottom"(or with partnumber)facesthe
groundwhenthe moweris in the operatingposition,
Makesurethat bladeis alignedand seatedon blade
adapterflanges,
6, Placeblade bellsupport on the blade,Align notches
on the blade bell supportwith small holesin blade,
Replacehexboltand tightenhex boltto torque:450
in, Ibs,rain,,600 in, Ibs, max,
9, Tightenself-tappingscrewsecuringdeck baffle
loosenedearlier,
10,Replaceblade,blade adapter,and associated
hardware,Followinstructionsin BladeCaresection
for properassembly,
11,Tip mowerbackonto its wheelsand removepieceof
plasticfrom undergas cap(if applicable),

Storage
The followingstepsshouldbe takento prepareyour lawn
mowerfor storage,
1, Cleanand lubricatemowerthoroughlyas describedin
the lubricationinstructions,
2, Wedo not recommend the use of a pressurewasher
or garden hoseto cleanyourunit,
3, Referto engine manualforcorrectengine
storageinstructions,
4, Coat mower'scuttingbladewith chassis greaseto
preventrusting,
5, Storemowerin a dry, cleanarea,Do not storenext to
corrosivematerials,suchas fertilizer,
When storinganytype of powerequipmentin a poorly
ventilatedor metalstorageshed, careshouldbe takento
rust-proofthe equipment,Usinga lightoil or silicone,coat
the equipment,especiallycablesand all movingpartsof
yourlawnmowerbeforestorage,
Battery
(If equipped)
The batterymust be storedwith a full charge,A dis_
chargedbatterywill freeze,
