STARTING
INSTRUCTIONS
WARNING;
Operate this unit only in a we_t
ventilated area outdoors. Carbon monoxide
exhaust fumes can be lethal in a confined
area.
1. Check oil level in crankcase. See Checking the Oil
Level Pg. 17,

Fill the fuel tank with fresh, clean, unleaded gasoline
(see page 10).

Put the Start/Stop Engine Control in the START [I]
position (Fig. 5).
6. With the unit in the starting position pull the starter
rope briskly until the engine sounds as though it
wants to run (normally 2 to 5 pulls) (Fig. 7).
WARNING: Avoid accidental
starting. Be in
the starting position whenever pulling the
starting rope. To avoid serious personal
injury, the operator and unit must be in a
stable position while starting.

Fully press and release the primer bulb slowly 5 to 7
times. Gasoline should be felt and visible in the bulb
(Fig. 6). If gasoline has not entered the bulb, press
three more times, or until it does,

Place the choke lever in the START ( N ) position
(Fig. 6).

NOTE: Keep the throttle control depressed at all times
until the engine is warmed up.
7. Place the choke lever in the RUN ( 1½1 B) position
(Fig. 6). The lever should snap up into place.
8. Pull the starter rope briskly 1 to 3 times to start the
engine (Fig. 7).
9. If the engine does net start, repeat steps 5 through
8.
NOTE: If the engine floods while attempting to start the
unit, place the choke lever in the RUN ( I { I B)
position, squeeze the throttle control, and pull
the starter rope briskly. The engine should start
within three (3) to eight (8) pulls.
10. Depress throttle control for 5 to 10 seconds to warm
up engine.
NOTE: Choking is not required when starting a warm
engine. Start a warm engine with the Start/Stop
Engine Control in the START [I] position and the
choke lever in the RUN ( I|1 B) position.
STOPPING
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Release your hand from the throttle control (Fig. 7).
Allow the engine to cool down by idling.
2. To stop the engine, put the Start/Stop Engine
Control in the STOP [O] position (Fig. 5).
