Securing the Handle
IMPORTANT:This unitis shippedWITHOUTGASOLINE
or OIL.After settingup the unit,serviceenginewith
gasolineand oil as instructedin the separateengine
manualpackedwith yourunit.
NOTE: Referenceto right or left hand side of the edger is
observedfromthe operatingposition.
Positioning the Edger Handles
Removeand discardanypackagingcardboardthat
may be presentbetweenthe upper handleand the lower
handle.
1. Pivotthe upper handleupwarduntilit snapsinto place.
See Fig. 3-1.
2. Tightenthe handknobs,whichare locatedon boththe
left and rightsides of the handle.

1. Locatethe ropeguide foundon the rightsideof the
upperhandle.Loosen,but do NOT remove,thewing
knobwhich securesthe ropeguide to the upper
handle.See Fig. 3-2.
2. Standbehindthe unitand holdthe blade control
againstthe upperhandle.
3. Gentlypull the starterrope outof theengine.

WARNING: The edgerblade WILL rotate
when the starter ropeis pulled.
NOTE: The starterrope will notpull out of the engine
unlessthe bladecontrol (referto Figure3-2) is depressed
againstthe upperhandle.
4. Slip the starterropethroughthetop of the ropeguide.
Retightenthe wing knobwhichsecuresthe ropeguide
to the upperhandle.
