Maintaining
WARNING
Disconnect the spark
plug wire and ground
against the engine
before performing
any adjustment,
repairs or mainte-

The edger blade
is sharp. Wear
leather work gloves
to protect your hands
when working around
the edger blade.

Lubrication
Engine
Refer totheEngine Manual p acked with youredger fora detailed
description o fallengine-related service specifications.
Wheels
Lubricatethe wheelsand bearingsat least oncea season
with a lightoil. Also if the wheelsare removedfor any
reason,lubricatethe surfaceof the axlebolt and the inner
surfaceof thewheelwith light oil.
Pivot Points
Lubricatethe pivot pointson the blade controlbail,blade
depthcontrollever,and if applicable,the bladeadjustment
lever,and curbheightadjustmentleverwith lightoil at
least oncea season.
Bearing Block
Lubricatethe bearingblockevery 25 hoursor at least
oncea season.Simplyapplyoil at eachend of the cover
plate. See Fig.6-1.
Replacingthe Edger Blade

WARNING: Disconnectthe spark plug
wire and ground against engine before
performingthe following steps.
1. Use two wrenches(onewrench to preventthe hexbolt
headfrom spinningand the otherto removethe flange
nut)to removethe edger blade.Referto Fig.6-2.
2. Removeand discardtheedger blade but retainthe
flangenut.
3. Installthe replacement e dger bladeand the flangenut
removedearlier.
IMPORTANT:Use a torquewrenchto tightenthe flange
nut to between37 fooNbs,and 50 foot-lbs.
IMPORTANT:Makecertain that the drivebelt isseated
correctlyon the blade spindleand that it is riding smoothly
on the spindlesheavesand is not pinchedbetweenthem.
Repeatthefirst threestepsif the beltis pinched.
