FirstTime Use
1. Removeoil fill dipstick.
2. With the tilleron levelground,usea funnelto emptyentire
contentsofoil bottle providedintothe engine.
3. Replaceoil fill dipstickand tighten.
Subsequent Uses
Only usehigh qualitydetergentoil ratedwith APIserviceclassifica-
tion SF,or SG.Selectthe oil'sSAE viscositygradeaccordingto the
expectedoperatingtemperature.Followthe chart below.

Althoughmulti-viscosity oils (5W30, 10W30, e tc.)improvestarting
in coldweather,theywill result in increasedoil consumption when
usedabove32°F.Checkyourengineoil levelmorefrequentlyto avoid
possibleenginedamagefrom runninglowon oil.
1. Checkthe oil levelmakingcertain notto rubthe dipstickalong
the insidewallsof the oil fill tube.This would resultin a false
dipstickreading.Wipedipstickcleanwith cloth. Replacedipstick
into theoil fillerneck, butdo not screwit in. Removeand check
oil level.Refillto FULLmarkon dipstick,if necessary.Capacityis
approximately 20 oz. Overfillingwill causethe engineto smoke
profuselyand will resultin poorengine performance.
2. Replaceoil fill dipstickand tighten.
3. Keepoil levelat FULL.Runningtheenginewith toolittleoil canresult
in permanent e ngine damage.
Useextremecarewhenhandlinggasoline.Gasolineis extremely
flammableand the vaporsare explosive.Neverfuel machineindoors
or whilethe engineis hotor running.Extinguishcigarettes,cigars,
pipes,and othersourcesof ignition.
Gasoline
1. Removefuelcap from thefuel tank.
2. Make surethecontainerfromwhich youwill pour the gasolineis
cleanand freefrom rust or foreignparticles.Neveruse gasoline
that may be stale from long periodsof storagein its container.
Gasolinethat has beensittingfor any periodlongerthan four
weeksshouldbe consideredstale.
Alcoholblendedfuels (calledgasoholor usingethanolor methanol)
canattract moisturewhich leadsto separation and formationof acids
duringstorage.Acidicgas can damagethe fuel systemof an engine
whilein storage.
Toavoidengineproblems,the fuel systemshouldbe emptiedbefore
storagefor30 daysor longer.Drainthe gastank, startthe engine
and let it run untilthe fuellinesand carburetorare empty. Usefresh
fuel nextseason.See STORAGE Instructions for additionalinforma-
tion.
Neveruseengineor carburetorcleanerproductsin the fueltank or
permanentdamagemayoccur.
3. Fillfuel tank with clean,fresh,unleadedregulargasolineonly. Do
not usegasolinecontainingMETHANOL.Replacefuel cap.
NOTE:Checkthe fuellevelperiodicallyto avoid runningout of
gasolinewhileoperatingthe tiller.
TO START ENGINE
1. Attachspark plugwire and rubberbootto sparkplug.
2. Filltank to no morethan 1/2inchbelowbottomof filler neckto
providespacefor fuelexpansion.
3. Placethe gear selectionleverin NEUTRAL.
4. Movethechoke leveron the engineto CHOKEI'=,1 position.(A
warm enginemay not requirechoking.)See Figure9.
5. Movethrottlecontrolto START/RUN (Rabbit)_ position.See
Figure9.
6. Standingon the sideof the unit, graspstarterhandleand pull
ropeout untilyou feela drag.
