$ Selectingthe On-screenLanguage
You can set your VCR to display
on-screen
messages,
menus,
and
functions
in English,
Spanish
or French.
You should do this
before you use the menus
or set any audio/video
functions.
Before you begin, you need to know:
•
how to view the picture
coming from your VCR. (See page 20.)

Make sure you are viewing
the picture
coming from your
VCR. Then, press the MENU
button
on the remote
control. If
this is the first time the menus
have been used, you will see
the menu for selecting
an on-screen
language.
O
Press the ADJUST
buttons
on the remote control
to highlight
the desired
language.
The ADJUST
+ button
moves upward;
the ADJUST
- button
moves downward.
Press the ENTER
button
on the remote
control. The menu
will change
to the "VCR Main Menu."
Press the MENU button
to exit the menus.
_>Important:
The "Select Language" menu is unique.
While all other menus
can
be accessed
at almost
any time, the "Select Language"
menu will
not automatically
appear
again after it is first set. To see the
"Select Language"
menu, turn
off the VCR and unplug
the power
cord. Leave it unplugged
for about two minutes,
then follow the
procedure
on this page.

This section
will show you how to use the on-screen
menus. You
will use the menus
to operate
many features,
such as setting
the
time, programming
to record,
and memorizing
channels.
On the
on-screen
menus,
the selected
item is indicated
in white.
Before y oubegin, youneedtoknow:
• how toview the picture coming from your VCR (page 20),

Make sure you are viewing
the picture
coming from your
VCR. Then, press the MENU
button
on the remote
control.
You will see the '_CR
Main Menu." Make sure the words
"First
Time Set-Up"
is highlighted.
If it is not, use the AD-
JUST buttons
to highlight
it.
Press the ENTER
button.
The "First Time Set-Up"
menu will
appear.
The word _Set the clock" will be highlighted.
Press
the ENTER
button.
You will see the "Set the clock" menu. Press
the ADJUST
buttons
until
the correct
month
appears
on screen.
Press the
ENTER
button.
