GENERALINFORMATION
[Disc for recording
For recordinguse, special audio discsmust be used (for music
only), TheseDiscs bear the loges as shown below. The text
'DIGITAL AUDIO'is present! Copyrightfees havebeen paid on
these discsin some countries.
With your recorderyou can use two types of discsfor
recordingpurposes:
- CD-Audio Recordable (CD-R) d iscs:

Fullyrecordedandfinalized, these discs
play on all CDplayers andrecorders,

- CD-Audio ReWritable (CD-RW} d iscs:

Canbe recorded,erased andre-recorded

play on CD-RW compatible CO players

In the courseof 1999most Philips CDplayers and recorders
will be CD-RWcompatible.

- Ag AudioCO-R andAudioCD-BW.
Note. CD-Rdiscsrecorded with a computercan only be used
when they are correctlytreated accordingthe audio
standard (IEC958: C onsumer p art), Singlesession only!
[Maintenance
It is extremely important that the discs usedfor recordingare
free of dust and scratches.
Toclean a CO,wipe it in a straight
line from the center towards the
outer edge using a soft, lint-free
cloth. Cleaningagents may damage
the disc! Write only on the printed
side of a CD-Bor CD-RW,and only
with a soft felt-tipped pen.
Cleanthe CORecorder/Playerusing
a soft, lint-free cloth that has been
slightly dampened.Do not use a
cleaning agent;this might havea
corrosiveeffect.
Donotexpose theCORecorder/Player
thebatteriesor COs to extreme
humidity, r ain,sandor excessive h eat
fromheatingequipment or direct
sunlight.

If the CDRecorder/Player doesnot read the COscorrectly,use
a cleaning CD(commonlyavailable)to clean the lens before
taking the CORecorder/Playerin fer repairs.Other cleaning
methodsmay damagethe lens. Keep the tray closed at all
times to avoid getting dust on the lens.
The lens may becomeclouded when the CORecorder/Player
is moved from cold to warm surroundings;it will not be
possibleto play a CDwhen this happens.Leavethe CD
Recorder/Player in the warm surroundingsto allow the
moistureto evaporate.
