The scaler comes in four models, two of which offer a serial digital interface (SDI) input connector: DVS 406 (no SDI and no audio), DVS 406 A (no SDI but with audio), DVS 406 D (SDI and no audio), and DVS 406 AD (SDI and audio). -

Inputs 3 to 5 — Three pairs of BNC connectors on the rear panel accept S-video or composite video signals. • Input 6 — DVS 406 D and DVS 406 AD are equipped with an SDI connector for a serial digital interface signal. Installation and Operation Mounting the Scaler Tabletop use The DVS 406 series of scalers comes with rack mounting brackets and rubber feet. For tabletop use, attach a self-adhesive rubber foot to each corner of the bottom of the unit. Rack mounting For rack mounting, do not install the rubber feet. -

Front Panel Features The front panel buttons, controls, and LCD of the DVS 406 AD model, as shown below, are found on all models of the DVS 406 scaler series. The LEDs above each button will light green when the button is pressed. -

Scaler configuration and adjustments can be performed by using the Windows- based control program (see chapter 3 for details) or by using the front panel controls and the menus that are displayed on the DVS 406’s LCD screen. These menus are used primarily when the scaler is first set up. -

The DVS 406’s front panel and the IR 901 are both affected by the lock mode. When the lock mode is active, all functions and adjustments can still be made through RS-232 control. -

Extron factory. Follow these steps to replace firmware in the DVS 406. Disconnect the AC power cord from the DVS 406 to remove power from the unit. Next, remove the input/output cables. To prevent electric shock, always unplug the DVS 406 scaler from the AC power source before opening the enclosure. - Page 50 Gently, but firmly, press the chip into place in the socket. Replace the top cover on the DVS 406 scaler, and fasten it with the screws that were removed in step 3. Rack/furniture mount the scaler, connect the input/output cables, and reconnect the AC power cord.

Follow these steps to install an audio card in the DVS 406. Disconnect the AC power cord from the DVS 406 to remove power from the unit. Next, remove the input/output cables. Follow these steps to install an SDI card in the DVS 406. Disconnect the AC power cord from the DVS 406 to remove power from the unit. Then disconnect the input/outut cables.
