TROUBLESHOOTING CHART
PROBLEM
Will not start
Hard to start
CAUSE
• Out of fuel.
CORRECTION
Engine will not tum
over
• Fill fuel tank.
• Engine not =CHOKED" • See "TO START ENGINE" in
properly. Operation section.
• Engine flooded. • Wait several minutes before
attempting to start.
• Bad spark plug. • Replace spark plug.
• Dirty air filter. • Clean/replace air filter.
• Dirty fuel filter. • Replace fuel filter.
• Water in fuel. • Drain fuel tank and carbure-
tor, refilltank with fresh
gasoline and replace fuel fil-
ter.
• Loose or damaged wiring. • Check all wiring.
• Carburetor out of adjust- • See "To Adjust Carburetor"
ment. in Service and Adjustments
• Engine valves out of
adjustment.
• Dirty air filter.
• Bad spark plug.
• Weak or dead battery.
• Dirty fuel filter.
• Stale or dirty fuel.
• Loose or damaged wiring. •
• Carburetor out of adjust- •
ment.
• Engine valves out of
adjustment.
• CIutch/breke pedal not
depressed.
• Attachment clutch is
engaged.
• Weak or dead battery.
• Blown fuse.
• Corroded battery termi-
section.
Contact an authorized ser-

Clean/replace air filter.
Replace spark plug.
Recharge or replace battery.
Replace fuel filter.
Drain fuel tank and refill with
fresh gasoline.
Check all wiring.
