Restoring the factory contents by using Recovery Disc Set When the hard disk drive or solid state drive is replaced because of a failure, no product recovery program is on the new drive.

    Attention: If the user HDP has been forgotten, check whether a master HDP has been set. If it has, it can be used for access to the hard disk drive. If no master HDP is available, neither Lenovo nor Lenovo authorized service technicians provide any services to reset either the user or the master HDP, or to recover data from the hard disk drive.

    If you replace the system board, you must restore the serial number of the system unit to its original value. Before replacing the system board, save the original serial number by doing the following: 1.     When you replace the system board, you must set the UUID on the new system board as follows: 1. If a valid UUID already exists, it is not overwritten.

    Important notice for replacing a battery pack: The Lenovo ThinkVantage Toolbox and Lenovo Solution Center (in Windows 7) have an automatic battery diagnostic that determines if the battery pack is defective. A battery pack FRU should not be replaced unless this diagnostic shows that the battery is defective.

    The only exception to this is if the battery pack is physically damaged or a customer is reporting a possible safety issue. If ThinkVantage Toolbox or Lenovo Solution Center is not installed in the computer, the customer should download this program before a non-physically damaged battery pack is replaced.
