If a Continuous Access Journal pair is suspended when the Continuous Access Synchronous
S-VOL is in PAIR or COPY status, the Continuous Access Synchronous pair becomes suspended
by error.
A Continuous Access Journal pair cannot be released if cascaded with a Continuous Access
Synchronous pair. To release a Continuous Access Journal pair, release the Continuous Access
Synchronous pair, and then release the Continuous Access Journal pair.

Specifications and restrictions for Continuous Access Synchronous pair operations

Specify a volume for the Continuous Access Synchronous P-VOL that is not used in a Continuous
Access Journal pair In the 2DC configuration, use the journal that was registered when 2DC
Cascade was set to Enable in the Edit Journal Volume dialog box.
The Continuous Access Journal P-VOL that is specified for the Continuous Access Synchronous
S-VOL must be in PAIR status. The only available differential management unit is tracks.
To resynchronize the Continuous Access Synchronous pair, the Continuous Access Journal
P-VOL must be in PAIR status.
You cannot use the takeover command on the Continuous Access Synchronous S-VOL when
suspending the Continuous Access Synchronous pair.
If you release the Continuous Access Synchronous pair when the Continuous Access Journal
P-VOL is in COPY status, the Continuous Access Journal pair becomes suspended by error.
If the following conditions exist for the configuration, the X at the end of the device ID displayed
in the Paired VOL column in the Pair Operation window and the History window is not
displayed for the Continuous Access Synchronous pair at the local site:
The Continuous Access Synchronous S-VOL is a Thin Provisioning virtual volume.
The Continuous Access Journal S-VOL is not a Thin Provisioning virtual volume.

Procedure for 2DC setup

To set up a 2DC configuration
1.
Install and set up Continuous Access Synchronous and Continuous Access Journal on the
required systems
2.
When registering the journal on the intermediate site, set 2DC Cascade to Enable in the Edit
Journal Volumes dialog box.
3.
Create the Continuous Access Journal pair on the intermediate system.
4.
When Continuous Access Journal pair status is PAIR, create the Continuous Access Synchronous
pair on the primary system. See HP P9000 Continuous Access Synchronous User Guide.
5.
Confirm that Continuous Access Synchronous pair status becomes PAIR.
