Deck Spindles
Lubricatethedeck spindlewith Cub Cadet251HEP
greaseafter every 10hoursof operation,
° The deck spindlelube fittings are in the spindlehous-
ings, and can onlybe accessedfrom the undersideof
the deck, Usea pressuregreasegun to lubricatethe
spindles,
• 50" Deck ONLY- Lubricatethe deck idler bracket
every 10 hoursof operation,The idler bracketlube
fitting is in theshoulderboltthat securesthe bracket
to the deck,
Pivot Points & Linkage
Lubricateall the pivot pointson the drive system,parking
brakeand lift linkageat leastoncea seasonwith light oil,
Rear Wheels
The rear wheelsshouldbe removedfrom the axlesonce
a season,Lubricatethe axlesand the rimswellwith an
all-purposegreasebeforere-installingthem,
Cleaning the Tractor
and Deck
Any fuelor oil spilledon the machineshouldbe wipedoff
promptly.DoNOTallowdebristo accumulate aroundthe
deck pulleysor anyotherpart of the machine,
Periodically removethe beltcoversand removeany
accumulated grass clippingsfromaroundthe spindle
pulleysand the deck belt,
IMPORTANT: T he use of a pressurewasherto cleanyour
tractoris NOTrecommended, I t maycausedamageto
electricalcomponents,spindles,pulleys,bearingsor the
engine,
Deck Wash System

Yourtractor'sdeck is equippedwith water nozzleson its
surfaceas part of its deck wash system.
Usethe DeckWash System
TM
to rinsegrass clippings
from the deck'sundersideand preventthe buildupof cor-
rosivechemicals,Completethe followingstepsAFTER
EACHMOWING:
1. Drivethetractorto a level, clearspot on your lawn,
near enoughto a watersillcock(spigot) foryour
garden hoseto reach,
IMPORTANT: M akecertainthetractor'sdischarge chuteis
directedAWAYfromyourhouse,garage,parkedcars,etc,
2, Disengage the PTO(Blade Engage),set the parking
brake,and stop the engine,
3, Threadthe nozzleadapter(packagedwith your
tractor'sOperator'sManual)ontothe end of your
garden hose,
4. Pull backthe lock collarof the nozzleadapterand
pushthe adapterontothedeck wash nozzleat the left
end of the mowerdeck, Releasethe lock collarto lock
the adapteron the nozzle,See Figure22,

Turnthe wateron.
Whilesittingin theoperator'spositionon the tractor,
re-starttheengine and placethethrottle leverin the
FAST(rabbit)position.
7. Movethe tractor'sPTO(BladeEngage)intothe
ON position.Remain in the operator's position
with thecutting deckengagedfor a minimumof two
minutes,allowingthe undersideof the cuttingdeck
to thoroughlyrinse.
8. Movethe tractor'sPTO(BladeEngage)intothe OFF
position.Turnthe ignitionkey to the STOPposition
to turnthe tractor'sengineoff.
9. Pull back thelock collar ofthe nozzleadapterto
disconnectthe adapterfrom the nozzle.
10,Repeatthe previoussteps4 thru9 to cleanthe deck
usingthe nozzleat theother end of thedeck.
Tires
WARNING:Neverexceedthe maxi-
muminflationpressureshownon the
sidewallof tire.
The recommended operatingtire pressureis:
° Approximately 10 psifor the rear tires
° Approximately 14psi for the fronttires
IMPORTANT:Referto the tire sidewallforexacttire
manufacturer's recommended or maximumpsi. Do not
overinflate. U neventire pressurecould causethe cutting
deck to mowunevenly.
