26. Storage
Remove mower from tractor for winter storage.
When
mower is to be stored for a period of time, clean it
thoroughly,
remove all dirt, grease, leaves, etc, give
blades and underside of housing a good coat of grease
or rust preventative,
Store in a clean dry area.
A.
Fuel System
It is important
to prevent
gum deposits from form-
ing in essential
fuel system
parts such as the car-
buretor, fuel filter, fuel hose, or tank during storage.
Also, experience
indicates that alcohol blended fuels
(called gasohol or using ethanol or methanol)
can at-
tract moisture
which
leads to separation
and forma-
tion of acids during storage.
Acidic
gas can damage
the fuel system
of an engine while
in storage.
To
avoid
engine problems,
the fuel system
should be
emptied
before
storage
of 30 days or longer.

Engine Oil
Drain
(with
engine
warm)
and replace
with clean
engine
oil, (See chart page
t6).

Cylinder

Remove
spark plug.
2.
Pour one ounce of oil through
spark plug hole in-
to cylinder.
3.
Turn ignition key to "'START"
position
for a few
seconds
to distribute
oil.
4.
Replace
with new spark plug.

Battery
1.
Prior
to storage,
clean
terminals
and
top
of
battery.
2.
Disconnect
cable from positive
side of battery.
General Cleaning
Clean engine, battery,
seat,
finish, etc. of all foreign
matter.
