information r egarding the Emissions DurabilityPeriod andthe AirIndex.Sears Brands Management Corporation makes this
information a vailable to theconsumer o nour emission labels.
TheEmissions D urabilityPeriod describes t he numberof hoursof actual r unningtime for whichthe engineiscertifiedto
beemissions c ompliant, a ssuming propermaintenance i naccordance with the Operating & Maintenance I nstructions. The
followingcategories a reused:
Moderate: Engine iscertifiedto beemission compliant f or 125hours of actualenginerunningtime.
Intermediate: Engine iscertifiedto beemission compliant f or 250hoursof actual e nginerunningtime.
Extended: Engine iscertifiedto beemission compliant f or 500hoursof actual e nginerunningtime.
Forexample, a typicalwalk-behind lawn mowerisused20to 25 hoursperyear. T herefore, the Emissions
Durability Period of anenginewith anintermediate ratingwouldequateto 10to 12years.
TheAirIndex isacalculated numberdescribing the relative levelof emissions f or aspecific enginefamily.Thelowerthe Air
Index, the cleaner t he engine. T hisinformation i sdisplayed ingraphical formonthe emissions l abel.

AfterJuly1,2000certainSears Brands Management Corporation engines will becertifiedto meetthe UnitedStates
Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) Phase 2 emission standards. ForPhase 2certifiedengines, t he Emissions
Compliance P eriod referred to onthe Emissions Compliance l abelindicates the number of operatinghoursfor whichthe
enginehasbeenshownto meetFederal e mission requirements.
Forengines lessthan225ccdisplacement, Category C = 125hours,B= 250hoursandA= 500hours.
Forengines of 225ccor more,Category C = 250hours,B= 500hoursandA= 1000hours.
Thisisa genericrepresentationof the emission label typically found on a certified engine.
