TO STOP ENGINE
1.
Releasebladecontrolto stop the engineand blade.
2.
Disconnectspark plug wireand groundit to the retainingpostto
preventaccidentalstartingwhiletheequipmentis unattended.
Wait for the bladeto stop completelybeforeperforminganyworkon
the moweror to removethe side dischargechute,

USING YOUR LAWN MOWER
Be sure lawnis clearof stones,sticks,wire, or other objectswhich
coulddamagelawnmoweror engine.Suchobjectscouldbe accidently
thrownby the mowerin anydirectionand causeserious personal
injuryto the operatorand others.
1.
Oncethe engineis running,squeezethedrivecontrolagainst the
upperhandleto propel mower.Release it to disengagethe drive.
2.
Use theshift leverto selectthe forwardspeedof the mower- 1
is the slowestspeed, 6 is the fastest.Whenchangingspeed
selection,releasethe drivecontrol.
IMPORTANT: M ovethe shift leveronly whenthe engineis running.
Changingthe shift leversettingwith the engineoff can damagethe
mower.
If youstrikea foreignobject,stop the engine.Removewirefrom the
sparkplug,thoroughlyinspectmowerforany damage,and repair
damagebeforerestartingand operating.Extensivevibrationof mower
duringoperationis an indicationof damage.The unitshouldbe
promptlyinspectedand repaired.
USING GRASS
CATCHER
Youcan usethe grass catcherbag to collectclippingswhileyouare
operatingthe mower.
1.
Attachgrass catcherfollowinginstructionsin the Assembly
section.Grassclippingswill automatically collectin the bagas
yourun the mower.
2.
Operatethe mowertill thegrass bag is full.
3.
Stopenginecompletelyby releasingthe bladecontrol.Makesure
that the unithas cometo a completestop.
4.
Whileholdingthe grassbag by boththe rear handleand the lower
handle,lift the grassbag straightup off the adapter. T he chute
door will movethe ropeout of the wayof the bag.
5.
Continuingto hold the lowerhandle,raisethe rearof the grass
bag and releasethe lowerhandleovera properreceptacle. T he
grassbag will open and the grassclippingswill disperse.When
replacingthegrass bag, be surethe top of the bag restson the
wiresupportbetweenthe handles.
USING SIDE DISCHARGE
Followstepsbelowto installthe sidedischargechute:
1.
Removemulchingbaffle or grass bag adapterfrom unitby
disconnecting wingnuts.
2.
Attachside dischargechute to unit and securewith the threewing
nuts.See Figure11.

The operationof any lawn mowercan resultin foreignobjectsbeing
throwninto theeyes,which candamageyour eyesseverely.Always
wearsafety glasseswhileoperatingthe mower,or whileperforming
anyadjustmentsor repairson it.
USING AS MULCHER
Formulchinggrass,removethegrass catcheror the sidedischarge
chute fromthe mower,and reattachthe mulchingbaffle.Refer to page
9 of Assemblysection. Foreffectivemulching,do not cut wet grass.If
the grass hasbeen allowedto growin excessof fourinches,mulching
is notrecommended. U se the grasscatcher to bag clippingsinstead.
