MAINTENANCE

ENGINE COOLING FINS (See Fig. 15)
Remove any dust, dirt or oll from engine cooling flns Io
prevent
engine damage
from overheating
Hood and
engine blower housing must be removed to ctean engine
coo_ing fins
Remove hood (see "TO REMOVE HOOD" in the Ser-
vice and Adjustments
section of this manual).
Remove
screws securing
air cleaner
body and re-
move
(Cover carburetor opening to prevent entry of
dirt)
,
Remove ell fill dipstick and cover opening to prevent
entry of dirt
Remove screws from blower housing and llft housing
off engine
Use compressed
air or stiff bristle brush to thoroughly
c_ean engine cooling fins.
To reassemble,
reverse above procedure.
Be certain carburetor tube, breather tube and gaskets
are in place

Inspect and replace corroded muffler end spark arrestor(if
equipped) as tt couldcreate a f_rehazardand/or damage

Repface spark plugs at the beginning
of each mowing
season or after every f00 hours of use, whichever comes
first. Spark p_ug type and gap setting ts shown in "PROD-
UCT SPECIFfCAT}ONS"
on page 3 of this manual

FUEL

Fuel flltershould
be replaced once each season
If fuelfilter
becomes clogged, obstrucling
fuel flow to carburetor, re-
placement is required
Wlth engine
cool, remove filter and plug fuel line
sections
Place new fuel filter in position in fuel line
Be sure there are no fuel line Ieaks and clamps ere
properly positioned
Immediately wipe up any spilled gasoline,

Clean engine, battery,
