CLEAN AIRINTAKL_COOLING AREAS

Every 1 00hours o foperation (more o ften
under e xtremely dusty_ dirty conditions),
remove t heblower housing and other
cooling s hrouds. Clean thecooling f ins
and externat surfaces asnecessary. Make
sure thecooling s hrouds arereinstalled°
NOTE:Operating theengine w ith a
blocked g rass s creen, dirty orplugged
cooling f ins, a nd/or cooting s hrouds re
moved w iltcause e ngine d amage dueto
overheating
AIRHLTER
"four e ngine w ilt n otrunpropedy using a
dirty airfilter.Clean thefoam pre-cleaner
after e ve@' 25hours ofoperation orevery
season. Service paper cartridge every
100 hours o foperation orevery s eason,
whichever occurs first
Ser_4ce aircleaner more often under d usty

Remove knob andcover.
Remove wing nutand aircleaner' from
base.
TOSERVICE PRE CLEANER
o SWe foam pre_cteaner offcartridge
Wash itinliquid detergent and water°
Squeeze itdryina clean cloth. A llow it
todry.
o Saturate itin
engine oil Wrap it in
clean, absorbent cloth and squeeze to
remove excess oil
TO SERVICE CARTRIDGE
o Replace a dirty, benL or damaged car°
HOTE: Do not wash the paper ca,,lridge
or use pressurized air, as this witt damage
• Reinstall the pre_cleaner (cleaned and
oiled) over the paper cartridge
o Reassemble air cteaner, wing nut, cover
and tighten knob securely.
ENGINE O_L FILTER
Replace the engine oit filter every season
or every other oil change if the tractor is
used more than t00 hours in one year.
o Drain oil from engine crankcase (See
"TO CHANGE ENGINE OIL" in this sec o
tion of this manual, through step remove
drain plug)°
o Remove oil fiJter and wipe off filter

adapter:
Apply a thin coating of new engine oil to
the rubber gasket on replacement oil ill°
ter.
install replacement oi_fitter on fifter
adapter. Turn oiJ fiJter clockwise untiJ
rubber gasket contacts the fitter adapter,
then tighten filter an additJona! 1/2 turn.

Fill crankcase with new oil (See "TO
CHANGE ENGINE OIU _in this section
of this manual}. For approximate capac-
ity see "PRODUCT SPECIFICATIONS"
on page 5 of this manual
o Start the engine and check for oiJ leaks.
Correct any leaks before ptacing engine
into full operation°
MUFFLER
Inspect and replace corroded muffter and
spark arrester (if equipped) as it coutd cre-
ate a fire hazard and/or damage.
SPARK PLUGS
Replace spark plugs at the beginning of
each mowing season or after every 100
hours of operation whichever occurs first.
Spark plug type and gap setting are
shown in "PRODUCT SPECIFICATIONS"
on page 5 of this manuat.
_N°LJNE FUEL FILTER
The fueJ fiJte_ shoukJ be reptaced once
each season. _ffuel filter becomes
clogged, obstructing fuel flow to carbure-.
tor, replacement is required.
o With engine cool, remove filter and plug
fuel line sections.
Place new fueJ filter in position in fuel
line with arrow pointing towards carbu°
retch
, Be sure there are no fuel Jine leaks and
clam.ps are properly positioned.
