SPEED CONTROL LEVER
Thespeedcontrol lever,locatedon the left sideof the
tractor'sdashconsole,allowsyouto regulatethe ground
speedof the lawntractor.Touse, depressthe clutch-
brakepedaland movethe leverout of the parkingbrake
notchand forwardto increasethetractor'sgroundspeed.
Whena desiredspeedhasbeen reached,releasethe
leverintoan appropriatenotchto maintainthat speed.
Toslow thetractor'sgroundspeed,depressthe clutch-
brakepedaland movethe speedcontrollever rearward
and releaseit intoa notch.
PARKING
BRAKE
Toset the parkingbrake,fully depressthe clutch-brake

pedal.Movethe speedcontrol leverall the waydownand
BRAKE
intothe parkingbrakeposition.Releasethe clutch-brake
pedalto allowthe parkingbraketo engage.
Toreleasethe parkingbrake,depressthe clutch-brakepedaland
movethe speedcontrolleveroutof the notchestothe desiredposition.
Releasethe speedcontrolleverand the clutch-brake pedal.
NOTE: The parkingbrakemustbe set if the operatorleavesthe seat
with the enginerunningor the enginewill automatically shut off.
THROTTLE/CHOKE
CONTROL
LEVER
Thethrottle/chokecontrolleveris locatedon the rightsideof thetrac-
tor'sdash panel.This levercontrolsthe speedof the engineand when
pushedall theway forward,the chokecontrolalso. Whenset in a given
position,the throttlewillmaintaina uniformengine speed.
iMPORTANT: Whenoperatingthe tractorwith the cuttingdeck
engaged,thethrottle/chokecontrollevermustalwaysbe in the FAST
(rabbit)position.
IGNITION
SWITCH
Thekey switch moduleis usedto
startand stopthe engine.Insert
key intothe key switchmodule
and turnclockwiseto theSTART
position.Releasethe keyinto the
normalmowingpositiononceen-
gine hasstarted.The headlights
will be activatedautomatically.
Tostop the engine,turnthe
ignitionkeycounterclockwise to
the STOPposition.
IMPORTANT: P rior to operatingthe tractor,referto boththe "Safety
InterlockSystem"and "StartingThe Engine"laterin this sectionof this
manualfor detailedinstructions regardingthe IgnitionSwitchModule.
Neverleavea runningmachineunattended. AlwaysdisengagePTO
(BladeEngageLever),moveshiftleverintoneutralposition,setpark-
ing brake,stopengineand remove keyto prevent u nintended starting.
SHIFT LEVER
The shift leveris locatedon the left
sideof the fenderand hasthree
positions,FORWARD, N EUTRAL
and REVERSE. T heclutch-brake
pedalmustbe depressedand the
tractormustnot be in motionwhen
the movingshift lever.
iMPORTANT: Neverforce the
shiftlever.Doingso may resultin
seriousdamageto the tractor's
transmission.
DECK LIFT LEVER
Foundon your tractor'srightfender,the deck lift leveris used
to changethe heightof the cuttingdeck.To use, movethe
leverto the left, thenplacein the notch bestsuitedfor your
application.
PTO (BLADE
ENGAGE)
LEVER
Foundon the tractor'srightfender,the PTO(bladeengage)
leveris usedto engagepowerto the cuttingdeck or other
(separatelyavailable)attachments.Tooperate,movethe
leverall theway forward.Movingthe leverall the way
rearwardinto the PTOOFFpositiondisengagespowerto the
cuttingdeck/attachment.
NOTE: The PTO(bladeengage)levermustbe in the
disengaged(PTOOFF)positionwhenstartingthe engine.
CUP HOLDER
The tractor'scup holderis locatedon the fenderto the left of
the seat.
SEAT ADJUSTMENT
KNOB
The seat adjustment k nob is locatedon the bottomsideof the seat.
Usethis knob to adjustthe seatforwardor rearwardto a comfortable
operatingpositionby looseningthe knob, positioningthe seatto the
desiredpreference,thenretightening the knob.
CLUTCH-BRAKE
PEDAL
The clutch-brake pedal is locatedon the left sideof the lawntractor,
along the runningboard.Depressthe clutch-brakepedalpart way
downwhenslowingthe tractorbychangingspeeds (Referto Speed
ControlLever).Depressthe pedalall the waydownto engagethe disc
brakeand bring the tractorto a completestop.
NOTE: The pedalmustbe depressedto startthe engine.Referto
SafetyInterlockSwitcheslaterin this sectionof this manual.
