If you allow the vehicle to move forward
in N (e.g. on downhill stretches), when
UP is requested, a gear will be engaged in
relation to the vehicle speed.
For safety reasons, the system activates
the buzzer and automatically shifts to
N
when, with the vehicle stationary, the
engine running and a gear engaged:
• the brake pedal or the accelerator are
not pushed for more than 90 seconds;
• if the brake pedal is pressed for more
than 10 minutes;
• the door is opened without pressing
the brake pedal or the accelerator;
• the engine compartment lid is opened.
CAUTION
The buzzer may also sound to warn
the driver that the clutch is starting to
overheat. This may occur if you use the
accelerator pedal when the vehicle is
stationary on a hill or during the "pick-
up" manoeuvre.
In these cases, release the accelerator
pedal and use only the brake pedal to
stop the vehicle or, where possible, start
off immediately.
Important
• When the vehicle is stationary with
a gear engaged, always keep the
brake pedal pressed until ready for
departure.
• Do not "rev the engine" using the
accelerator pedal when you start off.
• Shift to reverse only when the vehicle
is completely stationary and with the
brake pedal pressed.
If the vehicle is stopped on an uphill
stretch, do not use the "pick-up
manoeuvre" to keep the vehicle
stationary but only the brake, and push
the accelerator pedal only when you are
ready to leave.
DRIVING YOUR VEHICLE
• If the accelerator pedal is depressed
rapidly when the ASR is deactivated or
"SPORT"
mode is active, you will have
a "performance" start which will result
in considerable skidding of the driving
wheels, even in good grip conditions.
