Chart 21 : The starter motor does not work but the reversing
If the warning light is operational and it remains extinguished when there is a fault,
Adjust the control according to the Workshop
Repair Manual. After the operation, does the
fault persist?

Correct
Turn the ignition off and check the operation of the multifunction
switch between tracks C and E of the 6 track connector, computer side
0 to 3000

- Lever in R/D/2/1 : R =

Do you note these values on testing?

Check the wiring and the condition of the
starter relay.
Repair if necessary.

Disconnect the 6 track computer connector and check
the condition of the connections.
In the starting phase, is there+Battery feed on track C,

Cut the multifunction switch cable as if a replacement
were being made.
With the switch still in position on the automatic
transmission, repeat the previous tests at the switch side
between the brown and red wires.
Are the measurements still incorrect?
yes
Replace the multifunction switch.

Does the fault persist?

Ensure continuity between track C
on the 6 track connector and the
ignition switch. If there is
continuity, check the operation of
the switch.

Replace the computer.
Erase the memory if M 4-3.
Validate the no load and full
load values for the E7J
version*.
