12-6. Adjusting the feed dog angle

12-7. Adjusting the forward/back position of the feed dog

The standard angle for the feed dog (1) is for the top of the

needle plate to be parallel with the top of the feed dog (1)
(for the 8550A) or raised slightly at the side closest to the
operator (for the 8560A) when the feed dog (1) is raised to
its highest position above the needle plate. (with the O mark
on the feed bracket shaft (2) aligned with the mark on the
feed rocker bracket arm (3)).
1. Turn the machine pulley to move the feed dog (1) its
highest position above the needle plate.
2. Tilt back the machine head.
3. Loosen the set screw (4).
4. Turn the feed bracket shaft (2) in the direction of the
arrow within a range of 90º with respect to the standard
position.
• In order to prevent puckering, lower the front of the
feed dog (1). (Figure A)
• In order to prevent the material from slipping, raise
the front of the feed dog (1). (Figure B)
5. Securely tighten the set screws (4).
* When the angle of the feed dog (1) is adjusted, the height
and forward/back position of the feed dog (1) will also
change and will need to be readjusted.

The clearance between the feed dog (1) and the needle

plate should be the same at the front and back of the feed
dog (1) when the feed dog (1) is moved to its furthest
forward and furthest back positions by turning the machine
pulley.
1. Tilt back the machine head.
2. Loosen the two screws (2).
3. Turn the feed rocker bracket arm (3) to adjust the
forward/back position of the feed dog (1).
4. Securely tighten the two screws (2).
