¤ Shooting with the FE Lock
Just as with the AE lock (p. 90), you can lock the exposure for shooting with
the flash. FE stands for "Flash Exposure".

... Shooting with Slow Synchro

You can make the main subject, such as people, appear bright by having the
camera provide the appropriate illumination with the flash. At the same time,
you can use a slow shutter speed to brighten the background that the light
from the flash cannot reach.
Attach the camera to a tripod to prevent the camera from moving and
blurring the image. It is recommended to set the [IS Mode] to [Off] when
shooting with a tripod (p. 144).
Select h (p. 70).
Lock the exposure.
Point the camera toward the subject and
press the o button while pressing the
shutter button halfway.
The flash will fire and when ¤ appears,
the flash output will be retained.
If you release your finger from the shutter
button and press the o button again, ¤
will disappear and the FE will unlock.
Compose the scene and shoot.
Select ....
Press the r button, then use the qr
buttons or turn the  dial to select ...,
then press the m button again.
Once set, ... will appear on the screen.
Shoot.
Even if the flash fires, ensure that the
subject does not move until the shutter
sound ends.
