Error Messages and Beep Codes

Speaker

The board-mounted speaker provides audible error code (beep code) information
during POST.

BIOS Beep Codes

Whenever a recoverable error occurs during POST, the BIOS causes the board's
speaker to beep an error message describing the problem (see Table 33).

2.5-second pause (off), entire pattern repeats
(beeps and pause) until the system is powered
off.
Alternate high and low beeps (1.0 second each)
for 8 beeps, followed by system shut down.
