We put more in so that you
can get more out.
REALITY IS A MATTER OF PERSPECTIVE. IT IS CONTINUOUSLY CHANGING BEFORE YOUR VERY EYES. THAT'S WHAT MAKES
PHOTOGRAPHY SO FASCINATING. THAT IS WHY THE CAMERA MUST BE INSTINCTIVELY EASY TO USE IF IT IS TO CAPTURE THE
POINT OF VIEW AND THE MOOD OF THE PHOTOGRAPHER. IT MUST WORK FAST, BE INTUITIVE TO YOUR NEEDS AND STILL
LEAVE ROOM FOR YOUR CREATIVITY.
VERY REASSURING: THE RECORDABLE DIGITAL PREVIEW.
The digital preview is the ideal tool to examine the effect of the various camera settings. Indi-
vidual settings can be readjusted and fine-tuned while looking at the screen: you can alter
white balance, contrast or colour saturation and immediately see how the photo changes. The
preview picture can be also be magnified for more precise evaluation. An additional help: the
RGB histogram and the over-exposure warning are clearly displayed.
Often enough the first preview shot is the one that you're after. If this were the case, it would
be annoying to have to shoot it again to "really" capture it – that is why the K200D lets you
store the preview picture. Just another logical and unique function offered only by PENTAX.
AT THE HEART OF IT ALL: THE PENTAMIRROR.
The optical viewfinder is perhaps the central feature of SLR technology. It allows you to see
the scene exactly as it will be shot. A bright, clear viewfinder allows for a perfect evaluation
of the focus and composition under unfavourable lighting conditions. With a 96 % image view
and 0.85x magnification the viewfinder of the K200D offers a viewing quality that you simply
won't find in comparable cameras.
THE EYE CATCHING: A LARGE DISPLAY MONITOR.
The K200D is one of the most compact DSLRs on the market. However, with a screen dia-
gonal of 6.9cm its monitor is one the largest. Not only in size, but also in image quality. Its
230,000 dots supply pin-sharp image viewing that can be clearly seen from an angle of up to
160º.

GET RESULTS: IMAGE PROCESSING IN THE CAMERA.
The processing of the image fundamentally begins the moment the picture is taken. Before releasing the shutter the photographer can
decide whether the colour tonal range should be neutral or bright and more saturated. The parameters for saturation, sharpness, contrast
and colour can be precisely adjusted and stored according to own preferences. Filters are additional influential tools that are at your
disposal. Whether for colour or black-and-white photography, the PENTAX K200D offers numerous possibilities for manipulating your
images either at the time you're taking them or later on while reviewing you shots.
Photos that are shot in RAW can be manipulated directly in the camera and stored as JPEG files. Many parameters can be influenced
during manipulation: e. g. resolution, white balance, chroma, and sharpness.
THE BUTTON WITH A BRAIN: PROGRAMMABLE RAW BUTTON.
It goes without saying that the K200D lets you store your photos in the loss-free RAW format.
Changing from JPEG format to RAW format is no longer just in the realm of the dedicated
specialist: now all it takes is the press of a button. Press it again to switch from RAW back to
JPEG. It's as easy as can be, thanks to the programmable RAW key. You can specify which
configuration is to be used when pressing the button. Your options: save image as a RAW file,
save as both a RAW and as a JPEG file or only as a JPEG. Which mode should be active when
the camera is switched on is set just as easily. For maximum compatibility the RAW data of
the K200D is also recordable in the universal DNG format.
