You have the idea.
For the rest you have the camera.
IT IS ONE THING TO BE CAPTIVATED BY A SCENE. BUT IT IS SOMETHING ELSE TO FEEL COMPELLED TO CAPTURE IT PER-
FECTLY WITH THE CAMERA. THE K200D SUPPORTS YOU HOWEVER YOU WANT. WHETHER THE CAMERA AUTOMATICALLY MAKES
ALL THE APPROPRIATE SETTINGS OR YOU SELECT THE PARAMETERS YOURSELF: THE K200D ADAPTS TO YOUR IDEAS.
11 POINTS TO LOOK OUT FOR: THE AUTOFOCUS.
The expressive strength of a photo is substantially determined by the focus point. The 11-Point
Autofocus system of the K200D gives you a comprehensive choice of position. Each of the
11 measuring points can be individually manually selected in order to specify the critical
focus point according to your own decision. In the automatic mode the camera recognizes
the closest object and focuses on that. In dynamic autofocus the focus is continually adjusted.
With selected PENTAX lenses the focus can also be instantly readjusted by hand or you can
always choose to focus completely manually. In each case the 9 cross and 2 vertical sensors
ensure razor-sharp results.
UNDERSTANDING LIGHT: EXPOSURE MEASUREMENT.
Light is another crucial factor that exerts a strong influence on the quality of a photo. The exposure system of the K200D works with
16 specific metering fields. These individual fields supply precise data regarding the varing brightnesses of the scene to ensure optimum
exposure. In order to evaluate individual areas more precisely the K200D also offers both centre-weighted metering and spot metering.
The exposure metering area can also be set in conjunction with the focus point for especially tricky situations.

SENSITIVITY IS THE PROGRAMME:
ISO RANGE AND SV AUTOMATIC.
The K200D works within the ISO range of ISO 100 and 1,600. It also allows
you to manually select an intermediate value ISO. What's more, in the
automatic mode you can define a specific range of ISO values from which
the camera can make the optimum selection depending on each shooting
situation. With the Sv-Automatic mode the sensitivity can be freely selected
with a simple turn of the adjusting dial. The camera will then automatically
select the optimum aperture and shutter speed. In the Sv-Automatic mode
the current ISO value can be seen in the viewfinder at any time by the
simple press of a button.
CONTROL IS THE KEY: AUTO-BRACKETING.
There are certain lighting situations that present the photographer with a
real challenge. It's best to play it safe from the beginning and the Auto-
bracketing mode can offer valuable assistance. By taking a series of 3 expo-
sures ranging from under- to over-exposure you can be assured of a perfectly
exposed and successful shot.
ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE:
PICTURE MODES AND AUTOMATIC FUNCTIONS.
Excellent picture results require precise camera settings. To handle most
standard situations the K200D offers a number of dedicated Picture Modes.
Among these special modes are selections that ensure the best possible
portraits, macro or sport photographs. Another special characteristic of the
K200D: the camera can independently recognize the situation and condi-
tions in which you're shooting and automatically select the best mode.
Additionally there are various scene programs available that can, for example,
change the white balance or simulate use of filters so that you can further
influence the final results of your image.
For automatic operation the K200D offers various options: in the "P" setting
the camera adjusts all the settings automatically. The ISO-Priority mode (Sv)
calculates shutter speed and aperture based on your selected ISO value.
The Shutter Priority mode (Tv) selects the optimum aperture for the selected
shutter speed, while the Aperture Priority mode (Av) selects the precise
shutter speed for the set aperture.
ENOUGH ENERGY FOR 1001 IDEAS.
The new K200D not only produces astonishingly good images, but also an
astonishing number of them. The power management of the camera pro-
vides for extremely efficient handling of battery power. Four AA lithium cells
are enough for approximately 1,000 photographs. Even if you use the flash
a lot you can still take about 500 shots before recharging. Of course a full
set of lithium batteries is supplied with the camera.
