After you install the WN111v2 software, the icon appears on the desktop and in the right on the Windows task bar.

If many wireless networks in your area use the same channel, they can interfere with one another. Data rate To optimize the wireless data rate (throughput), connect to a network with a high- speed router or access point and a high-speed Internet connection.

The name assigned to a wireless network. This is the same as the SSID or ESSID configuration parameter. Note that as a security measure, some wireless access points do not broadcast their SSID.

    Using Push 'N' Connect (WPS) to Connect to a Wireless Network An access point or router that supports WPS has a WPS symbol. Some NETGEAR products include NETGEAR’s Push 'N' Connect feature. This feature is based on the Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) standard (for more information, see http://www.wi-fi.org).

  • Page 27 NETGEAR RangeMax Wireless-N USB 2.0 Adapter WN111v2 User Manual Generating a PIN to Connect to a Wireless Access Point or Router There are two ways to enable the wireless-N USB adapter to join a wireless network: using the router or access point’s security PIN; or using the wireless-N USB adapter’s security PIN (the wireless-N USB adapter can generate a PIN to connect to the router).

There are two special profile names: Default and Profile. • Default. The profile named Default automatically scans for any available network. You cannot change this profile name.

Ad Hoc mode is an 802.11 networking framework in which devices or computers communicate directly with each other, without the use of a router or access point.
