    Central Processing Unit (CPU) 2.3.1 Overview The motherboard comes with a surface mount 754-pin Zero Insertion Force (ZIF) socket designed for the AMD Athlon™ 64 processor. The 128-bit-wide data paths of these processors can run applications faster than processors with only 32-bit or 64-bit wide data paths. Take note of the marked corner (with gold triangle) on the CPU.

    2.3.3 Installing the heatsink and fan The AMD Athlon™ 64 processor requires a specially designed heatsink and fan assembly to ensure optimum thermal condition and performance. Make sure that you use only qualified heatsink and fan assembly. Follow these steps to install the CPU heatsink and fan. 1.

    2.3.4 Connecting the CPU fan cable When the heatsink and fan assembly is in place, connect the CPU fan cable to the connector on the motherboard labeled CPU_FAN.
