mW Anti-mask
Off
The Anti-Mask feature detects attempts to disable the detector by covering it. When activated, the anti-mask transmitter (11-4)
indicates an anti-mask supervision trouble condition if a microwave refl ective material (such as metal or most plastics) is placed within
1 ft (0.3 m) (11-5) of the detector.
Note: The anti-masking feature can interpret removal or replacement of the cover as an attempt to mask the detector. It can signal
a supervision trouble condition. If this occurs, reset the detector by removing and reapplying its power. The next detector alarm also
resets a trouble condition after a 10 sec period of no alarms from either the PIR or microwave system.
S6
Anti-mask delay
Off
Use S6 to turn On or Off the delay timer function. When On, this feature evaluates the anti-mask condition for false alarms. For
timer
maximum anti-mask and spray detection performance, turn S6 off and turn S5, S7, and S8 on.
S7
PIR Anti-mask

S8
PIR Spray Detect
Off
The anti-mask transmitter (11-4) detects if an object is placed near the detector, or if the detector is sprayed with a foreign substance.
Distance (11-5): Approximately 1 ft (0.3 m) with Spray Detect off. Approximately 3 ft (0.9 m) with Spray Detect on.
High sensitivity (On): Use to sense foreign substances sprayed on the detector.
Low sensitivity (Off): Use to reduce false anti-mask events.

Installation Considerations

3
Not suitable for outdoor use (3-1).
Never install the detector where the PIR or microwave
is in constant alarm (LEDs on). All LEDs are off when
properly installed.
Point away from outside traffi c. Microwave energy
passes through non-metallic walls. Point away from
direct and indirect sunlight (3-2).
Point away from glass or other objects that change
temperatures rapidly. (3-3, 3-4, and 3-5).
Point away from rotating machines (fans) (3-6).
Ensure the mounting surface is solid and vibration free.
Warning!
·
Apply power only after all connections are made
and inspected. Do not coil excess wiring inside
detector.
·
Ensure all wiring is un-powered before routing.
·
Do not connect any terminal to any power supply
providing more than 25 VDC.
SELV
Some countries require the relay to be connected to a
Safety Extra-Low Voltage (SELV) circuit only.
Tips!
·
Seal any openings with the foam plugs provided to
prevent drafts and insect entry. Use the two screws
provided to secure the detector cover to the base.
·
Many adhesives can destroy the mirror surface or
leave enough residue behind to reduce coverage.
Clean the mirror with a mild window cleaning
solution after removing a mask.

B334 Bracket Tamper Switch
Use the tamper switch to prevent any unauthorized
opening or manipulating of the detector once it is
mounted.
The tamper switch assembly is located in the arm of the
bracket. To remove the cover, insert a fl at head
screwdriver in the slot (6-1) and twist.
Use the following jumper pin settings to enable the
tamper feature for the:
·
Wall tamper (6-2)
·
Optional D334 Mounting Bracket tamper (6-4)

Mirror Choices
The DS720i comes with two mirrors (7-1): The OA300
(pre-installed), and the OA90. To replace the mirror:
1. Hold the base (7-2) with one hand if the unit is not
mounted.
2. Use the other hand to pull the old mirror, upward and
diagonally (7-3), off the mirror stand (7-4).
3. Align the runners on the inside of the mirror with the
grooves (7-5) on the mirror stand.
4. Slide the mirror, downward and diagonally (7-6), onto
the mirror stand (7-4).
Verifi es that each technology has a clear view of the detection area. When selected, a supervision timer activates. The
detector can indicate a supervision trouble condition if the time period elapsed since the detector's last alarm. If the Memory
feature is used, the motion monitor time period increases by the amount of time the detector is armed. If the detector does
not detect an alarm within the selected time period, the LED fl ashes red twice, indicating the motion monitor timed-out and
the Trouble output activated.
5
Mounting
Keep-out zone: Do not mount the detector within 24 in.
(60 cm) of moving objects such as doors, cabinets, or
curtains.
1.
Select a mounting location. Mount the detector
where an intruder is most likely to cross the
coverage pattern (5-1).
2.
Mount the detector at the correct height (5-2) for
your mirror:
-
OA300: 10 ft (3m)
-
OA90 and OA120: 7.5 ft (2.3 m)
3.
Before climbing a ladder with the detector, remove
the cover:
a. Place the detector on its side with the back
facing you (5-3).
b. Place your hand on top of the detector and
grasp it fi rmly (5-4).
c.
Insert a fl at head screwdriver into the slot (5-5)
at the top of the cover near your hand. Lift
screwdriver until the tab above the slot is free.
d. If the bottom tab did not also become free,
repeat Step c using the bottom slot (5-6).
e. Turn the detector, while still on its side, so the
front is facing you (5-7).
f.
Insert the screwdriver in the groove below
either the upper or lower tab (5-8). Lift until the
entire cover is free. Do not bend or remove the
microwave antenna located on the front of the
permanent refl ecting mirror.
4.
Remove the circuit board from the base:
a. Place your thumb and forefi nger on the two
circuit board retainer tabs (5-9).
b. Grasp the circuit board on the terminal block
side of the detector (5-10).
c. Pull the retainer tabs outward and lift the circuit
board up and away from the base.
5. Push out the appropriate wire entrances (5-11) and
mounting hole knockouts (5-12) in the base. For the
optional B334 Bracket installation remove the tape
from the wire entrance (5-13).
6. Mount the base using one of these options:
-
For surface or corner mounting, using the base
as a template and mark the location of the
mounting holes on the mounting surface. Start
the mounting screws.
-
For optional B334 Bracket mounting:
Mount the B334 to a standard single-gang
switch or outlet box using the supplied screws.
If the bracket is to be surface mounted, use the
wall screw and anchor assemblies or
appropriate alternatives.

Route wiring as necessary to the rear of the base
and through the appropriate wire entrances (5-11,
5-13). If necessary, slide the mirror from the black
mirror mounting assembly when feeding the power
wiring through the detector base to the terminal
block.
7.
Tighten the mounting screws to fi rmly attach the
base to the mounting surface.
8.
Replace the circuit board on the base:
-
Hold the circuit board so that the terminal block
is at the front of the detector.
-
Slide the rear of edge of the circuit board under
the retainer tabs (5-9) and push back and down
until the circuit board snaps into place.
9.
Put the detector cover on.
Note: The light pipe (5-11) must be aligned in the hole
on the cover, before pushing the cover into place.
12
Walk Test
1.
Wait at least 2 minutes after power up to start Walk
Test.
2.
The red LED fl ashes for 1 to 2 min until the detector
stabilizes and no movement is detected for 2 sec.
