THE WAGNER COLOR GUIDE 2006
THE COMPARISON:
PAINT BRUSHES VERSUS PAINT
SPRAYING UNITS
In a trial conducted by Wagner,
paint brush and paint spray
unit were compared with
each other. In order to check
the difference in the applicati-
on of paint and its durability,
different common types of
wood were chosen. Each indi-
vidual piece of wood was
coated, partly with a normal
commercial paint brush of
average quality and partly
with a paint spray gun, and
then exposed to the weather.
A clear result
In some places the wood sections painted with the
paint brush exhibited a complete breakdown of the
coating material. The coating applied with the spray
gun on the other hand showed itself highly resistant
to the effects of weather.
Paint application with a normal commercial paint
brush holds a risk of ridges being formed, if the paint
is applied to thickly and unevenly. This offers a greater
surface for the weather to attack. Moisture remains
trapped in the ridges left behind by the paint brush
and thus attacks the coating.

FARBAUFTRAG MIT PINSEL (l.)
Buntlack auf Fichtenholz
2K Lack auf Kiefernholz
2K Lack auf Spanplatte
Die meisten Objekte sind ständiger oder teilweiser Witterung
ausgesetzt. Sonne, Wind, Regen und Schnee, Hitze, Kälte und
Feuchtigkeit greifen die Oberflächen an. Deshalb sollte die
schützende Beschichtung so widerstandsfähig wie möglich sein.
