IBM Rack Console Switch Installation and User's Guide
As shown in Figure 3.4, buttons on the Setup window for regular users give access to only the
Menu, Flag and Security windows. All other windows available to the administrator are described
in the following table.

Set up a custom scan pattern for up to 16 servers.
Set passwords to restrict server access.

Devices
Identify the appropriate number of ports on an attached tiered switch.
Identify servers by unique names. If a server has not been assigned a name, default names are
assigned. If the server is connected by means of a CO, the eID number is shown as the server

name. If a server is connected by means of a console switch cable, the names PS/2 and USB are
shown.
Switch
Enable share mode. Choose the switch mode and the share mode time-out.
By default, English is the default keyboard language. When a keyboard for another language is

connected to a local user station, and servers with USB ports are connected to the switch, you
must select the correct country code to identify the keyboard's language.
Configure users (change usernames, configure password protection, configure access to

attached servers). Displays only if "Enable User Account" checkbox is selected on the

Allows a User to change the language displayed in the OSCAR interface (changes the language

on all the screens, help text, and key mappings).
Accessing the Setup window
1.
Access the OSCAR interface Main window. If needed, see "Accessing the rack console
switch" on page 23.
2.
Click Setup. The Setup window opens.
NOTE: Figure 3.3 displays for all users if user accounts are not enabled. If user accounts are enabled, Figure
3.4 displays for users and Figure 3.3 displays only for the administrator.
