4.2.9.
The battery cannot be recharged. (When battery-powered, the unit plays back only for a short time.)
Conduct a hearing of how the owner has been using the unit. If he or she is suspected of having repeated at
least 500 recharge-discharge operations, the battery life may expire. Replace the lithium ion battery.
The play-back time (12 hours) of battery as specified in the catalogs is applicable when the WMA format
sound is played back. Sound in MP3 format can also be played back for almost the same amount of time.
However, sound in the WAV format can be played back for about three to four hours only. Explain this to the
owner as well.
In all cases other than this, repair in the procedure mentioned below.
Connect the AC adaptor. Start up the unit.
Set the BATTERY switch to "ON". See
"Charging the built-in battery" in the
Owner's Manual.
Confirm that the charging icon appears on
the LCD.
Is the charging
icon displayed?
In case of indicating the charging icon, the
owner may have set the BATTERY switch
to OFF or the battery has been discharged.
Therefore, recharge the battery at least for
four hours as is. Then, confirm the charging
icon becomes fully charged charging
completed.
Does the charge
finish after four
hours?
