    Changing a ZonePlayer’s Operating Mode It’s possible to use a ZonePlayer simply to extend the wireless range of your Sonos Multi-Room Music System and not to play music, by placing the ZonePlayer into Sonos Extender mode. A ZonePlayer operating in Sonos Extender mode is sometimes referred to as a hidden ZonePlayer, and will not appear in your Zones menu.

    Managing Zones What Are Zones? A zone is just another word for a room in your house—Sonos lets you enjoy music in up to 32 rooms, inside or out. We call them zones because you can group rooms together to play the same song in every room, or you can listen to different songs in every room.
