thermoStatiC ControL oPeration
The stove has been designed to run thermostatically in
two different ways. There is a built-in thermostat in the
controller, or a remote thermostat can be installed (See
"Installing Remote Thermostat" on page 16).
LOCAL T-STAT – The local thermostat is the thermostat
located inside the controller display. To use this mode
press the thermostat button until the following screen is
displayed:
LOCAL TSTAT
The L.E.D. light located in the top right corner of the t-stat
button will illuminate. During normal local thermostat
operation, the screen will display (for example) the
following:
STPT 72 TEMP 65
RANgE 3 LEVEL 4
During local thermostat operation the TEMP UP and TEMP
DOWN buttons control the thermostat setpoint.
REMOTE T-STAT – Remote T-STAT mode is chosen by
pressing the T-STAT button until the following screen is
displayed:
REMOTE TSTAT
During this thermostat mode the stove is controlled by a
thermostat that is placed far from the stove. If the stove
is in this mode the screen will display (for example) the
following:
REMOTE * TEMP 72
RANgE 3 LEVEL 4
note: the asterisk indicates that the thermostat is
calling for heat.
To turn off the thermostat mode, press the thermostat
button until the following screen is displayed:

NEVER SHUT DOWN YOUR STOVE BY LEAVING THE
HOPPER DOOR OPEN AND UNATTENDED. THIS COULD
CREATE AN UNSAFE CONDITION IF THE DWELLING IS
UNDER NEGATIVE PRESSURE.
CUMBERLAND STOVE WORkS DOES NOT RECOMMEND
BURNING THE STOVE ON THERMOSTAT MODE, EITHER
LOCAL OR REMOTE, WHEN BURNING CORN OR
PELLET BLENDS. SPENT ASH MATERIAL WILL BUILD
UP IN THE POT, INHIBIT THE IGNITOR FUNCTION AND
CAUSE A VIOLENT IGNITION.
TSTAT OFF
This will return the stove to manual operation where the heat level
is controlled by using the TEMP UP and TEMP DOWN buttons.
Once in thermostat mode, the stove will continue to burn on
the chosen range, automatically adjusting to higher levels until
the chosen heat setting is reached. Once the desired heat
setting is reached, the stove will automatically adjust to lower
levels. MF3700 models will continue to burn on level 1 until the
room temperature drops below the chosen set point.
For MF3800 models, if the room temperature is still above
the chosen heat setting after burning on level 1, the stove
will automatically shut down and the screen will display (for
example) the following:
TSTAT STDBY
.
STPT 72 TEMP 75
For MF3800 models, as soon as the room temperature
drops below the chosen heat setting, the stove will
automatically go into electric ignite mode.
mF3800 note: Due to the nature of solid fuels, some
fuels will reignite in thermostat mode better than others. For
example, wood pellets leave a fine dust such as ash that is
easily blown out of the firepot during electric ignition. This
allows pellets to extinguish and reignite easily in thermostat
