Playing a Tape
Basic Playback

1 Insert a cassette.
2 Turn on the TV.
If your TV is equipped with video/audio input jacks
Select the input for the VCR.
If your TV is not equipped with video/audio input
jacks
Select the channel for the VCR (3 or 4).
4 Press > PLAY.
To stop playback, press i STOP.
To advance the tape rapidly, press >
FF.
To rewind the tape, press <<
REW.
To rewind the tape at high speed, press <<<
HIGH
SPEED REWIND.
If you insert the cassette with its safety tab removed,
playback starts automatically.
When the tape is played back to the end, the tape is
automatically rewound to the beginning (auto rewind).
The power remains on.
About the Data Screen
The data screen information is displayed on the screen.
To erase the data screen display, press DATA SCREEN on
the Commander.
To erase only the current date and time, see page 25.
Notes
*lf your TV is equipped with video/audio input jacks,
the data screen is not displayed unless the TV is
connected to MONITOR OUT on this VCR.
eWhen the VCR is in slow motion or still playback
mode, the data screen does not appear.
Notes on the remaining tape length indicator
*The displayed remaining tape length is not precise.
Use it only as an approximate reference.
When you insert a short tape such as T-20, T-30 or
a nonstandardized commercially available tape, this
indicator may not function correctly.
