4. Lift the rear wheel off the ground
according to the procedure on

page 7-31.
5. Turn the drive chain slack adjust-

ing plate on each side of the
swingarm fully in direction (a).
6. Remove the axle nut.

7. Pull the wheel axle out together
with the drive chain slack adjusting
10
plate from the right-hand side.
8. Slide the wheel to the right, and
11
then remove it by pulling it back.
To install the rear wheel
12
1. Install the drive chain slack adjust-
ing plate and the wheel by insert-
ing the wheel axle from the
right-hand side.

TIP
Make sure that the drive chain slack ad-
justing plate is installed with the
punched side facing to the outside.

2. Install the axle nut.
3. Install the brake rod onto the brake
camshaft lever, and then install the
brake pedal free play adjusting nut
onto the brake rod.
4. Connect the brake torque rod to
the brake shoe plate by installing
the brake torque rod bolt and the
brake torque rod nut, and then
tighten the nut to the specified
torque.
Tightening torque:
Brake torque rod nut:
19 Nm (1.9 m·kgf, 14 ft·lbf)
5. Insert a new cotter pin. WARNING!
Always
pin.

6. Adjust the drive chain slack. (See
page 7-21.)

7. Lower the rear wheel so that it is
on the ground.
8. Tighten the rear sprocket nut and
the axle nut to the specified
torques.
Tightening torques:
Rear sprocket nut:
85 Nm (8.5 m·kgf, 61 ft·lbf)
Axle nut:
85 Nm (8.5 m·kgf, 61 ft·lbf)
9. Adjust the brake pedal free play.
(See page 7-19.)
WARNING
After adjusting the brake pedal free
play, check the operation of the
brake light.
