VOLUME Slider
Adjusts the volume obtained through the speakers
or headphones. The further it is moved to the right,
the greater the volume level becomes.
Rear Panel

(TUNE Knob
This knob allows you to precisely adjust the pitch
of the ep-9. When the knob is rotated clockwise,
the pitch rises; when rotated counter-clockwise, it
is lowered.
With the knob at the center position, the frequency of the
"A" key in the middle of the keyboard will be 440.0 Hz.
By rotating the knob completely in either direction, you
obtain a pitch change of about 50 cents (1/2 of a semi-
tone).
MIDI Connectors
These connectors are used when you wish to con-
nect the ep-9 to another MIDI-equipped device. For
details, please refer to the separate "MIDI Guide-
book".

(PEDAL Connectors
The supplied DP-6 pedal can be connected to either of
these two jacks. The effect obtained will depend on
which jack the pedal is connected to :
DAMPER : Notes played will be sustained. (Similer to
the sustain pedal on an acoustic piano.)
SOFT :
Notes played will have a soften sound. (Sim-
iler to the soft pedal on an acoustic piano.)
* Asecond pedal may be purchased and connected to the unused jack
so that both effects can be obtained at the same time.
* The instrumentallows vou to adjust the extent to which the SOFT pedal
effect will be obtained. To select the desired effect, simultaneously
hold down the PIANO 1, E. PIANO, and HARPSICHORD buttons,
while you then press the appropriate key on the keyboard, shown
below.
The C key 1 octave above middle C : Changes obtained will be ex-
tensive.
Middle C : The same as when power is first turned on.
The C key 1 octave below middle C : A lesser degree of change will
be obtained.
